CRUISE SHIPS, YAGHTS OVER 300 SCGT & PAX SHIPS CALLING AT EGYPTIAN PORTS: (Basis Circ. 7/2020 & amendment 12 June 2022 in force from 1st July 2022 and Appendix Circ. No. 1-2024).
Passengers & Cruise ships (only with passengers onboard) calling at Egyptian Mediterranean and Red Sea ports, shall be granted the following Toll rebate:
1) Fifty 50% rebate maximum on Suez Canal normal tolls for each trip of the “round trip” where the calling period at the Egyptian ports is not less than 72 hours,
In case the calling period at the Egyptian ports is less than 72 hours and not less than 24 hours, the rebate percentage shall be calculated as follows:

2) In case the total hours spent by the vessel at the Egyptian Red Sea ports is less than half the aggregate hours spent at the Egyptian ports and not less than 12 hours the rebate percentage shall be calculated on the basis of double the hours spent by the vessel at Egyptian “Red Sea’ ports.
3) The period of frequent calling of Egyptian & foreign ports in the Mediterranean Sea & Red Sea for which the above mentioned rebate is calculated is set as follows:
a) In case the rebate is granted for one trip:
The period of frequent calling is set to be 30 days before the transit date and the same period after the transit date.
b) In case the rebate is granted for a round trip:
The period of frequent calling is set to be 30 days before the transit date, 30 days between the two trips and 30 days after the return trip transit date.
In all cases full normal transit dues shall be paid in advance of ship’s canal transit and the rebate amount will be refunded after the approval of SCA of the required documents within one calendar year from the day of ship’s transit in case the rebate is granted for one trip and within a calendar year from the day of the return trip transit in case of a round trip.
Required documents:
a) Original signed and stamped certificates by the Port Authority of each port as one package, have to be submitted to S.C.A. for each port of call separately, shown date and time of arrival, date and time of berthing and un-berthing, and date & time of departure always stating that the ship was solely involved in tourism activities and no cargo operations were carried out in any one port.
b) Principals claim requesting refund of the rebate amount, stating the Circular number, vessel’s particulars, each one of the Egyptian ports the vessel has called with the dates of arrival and departure, the Suez Canal transit date(s) and the name of the local transit agent to whom the rebate amount has to be refunded.
c) Claim from the agent requesting to have refunded the rebate amount stating transit date(s) of the ship, circular number and ship’s particulars.
d) In case of failing to submit all the required documents in due time or breaching any of the pre-set conditions the principals of the ship and their agent will not be entitled to claim and receive the rebate amount.
All the documents are gathered and submitted to S.C.A by our office, provided that we are appointed to attend not only the Canal transit of the vessel but also ship’s calls at the Egyptian ports.
– Yachts with a tonnage of less than 300 tons will receive a 50 % rebate.
